About iFly The Woodlands
iFLY Woodlands is an indoor skydiving experience that makes the dream of flight a reality!
My Flying Experience
Ok Yall, let me start by saying, I never on my own would have gone indoor skydiving but when iFly contacted me and asked if I would come out and experience the flight I immediately said “yes!”. My iFly Indoor Skydiving Experience was INCREDIBLE!!! My hubby came with me and we had such an awesome date night. Our flight was at 7pm, so we had to be there by 6pm for training and prep. During prep we learned our fight stance, hand signals and got to watch both professional and amateurs alike fly. They then suited us up and we were ready for our turn. We were teamed with an adorable family of 5. Does the mom look familiar? I will tell you her first name is Laura. More on this below.
Ok back to our instructor, his name is Ryan and he is amazing. Actually, I want to stop here a moment and just give a huge SHOUT OUT to all the iFly instructors. Every one of them I encountered was professional, kind and very very fun! I highly recommend Ryan, he was amazing with children and adults alike and very much knows what he is doing. He made the iFly Indoor Skydiving Experience AWESOME!!!!
Ok back to the flights. They recommend you wear fitted clothing and they require tennis shoes to fly. You remove all jewelry and pull your hair back. They provide everything else, the suit, glasses, earplugs, etc While flying they also take photos and video of you, check out mine below. Depending on the package you buy you fly 1 minute each at varying heights. We did 2 flights, the 1st low floating around the bottom and the 2nd high flying with the instructor. Both were fun but the high flying was AMAZING!!!!! The video at the top is of my high flying from outside the tube. The video below is my high flying from inside. Anyone under 300 lbs and between the ages of 3 and 103 can fly the iFly Indoor Skydiving Experience.
Is it scary? Not At All! There’s no jumping, no falling, and no experience is needed. You simply float on a column of air. You literally just relax and float, it is awesome!
Will I get motion sick? Nope! When watching others in the tube you think wow that would make me sick BUT not at all, its way different inside. There is no sensation of falling or anything that would make you feel motion sickness.
Do I have to do train every time? No, you go through all the training the 1st time and then you are done. You are ready to fly by just buying a package and showing up.
Is it hard to breathe? Not at all. It is the same as if you stick your head out a car window while driving. All you feel is the wind in your face. Just breathe normally, either through your mouth or your nose. A few people pinch their lips closed, I was hanging my tongue out LOL.
Can you fly with friends? Friends and family will be part of the same group, however you will fly one at a time in the flight chamber one-on-one with your instructor. Once you have gained more flight experience then you will be able to fly with others of the same skill level in the tunnel. If someone chooses to come to watch, he or she is welcome to accompany you and can watch from the observation area just outside the tube.
So did you figure out who my flying friend Laura is that I mentioned above? It is none other than Laura Wilkinson, American diver, Olympic gold medalist, mommy of soon to be 4 and The Woodlands TX native. You can check out her diving website and blog here. Thank you Laura & Eriek & kiddos for being such awesome flying friends!
