What is Fiesta Fiesta?

What is Fiesta Fiesta?  What is the Fiesta Launch Party? Is it kid-friendly? These are just a few of the questions I have received, and I wanted to provide some answers.

“Fiesta Fiesta” traditionally marks the official opening celebration of Fiesta San Antonio. This family-friendly, free event typically features the unveiling of official Fiesta medals, live entertainment, festive food, and appearances by Fiesta royalty, setting the vibrant tone for the numerous events that follow over the festival's duration. It's a family-friendly event that encapsulates the spirit of Fiesta, inviting locals and visitors alike to partake in the city's rich cultural traditions.

Admission: Free

Parking: typically free, although the location of this event has changed year to year, so this could have an impact

Location: subject to change each year, visit Fiesta San Antonio for the latest info

From Fiesta about Fiesta Fiesta Launch Party: Join us for the official opening of Fiesta! Enjoy live entertainment and greet Official Fiesta Royalty and special guests. Buy, sell, or trade Fiesta pins and medals at Pin Pandemonium. Join the fun as cascarónes are broken and the crowd proclaims “Viva Fiesta!” to kick off the Alamo City's biggest, best festival.

Kid Friendly: Yes!

Fiesta Fiesta Activities:

  • Trade & Buy medals
  • Eat yummy foods * drink yummy drinks (shout out chicken on a stick & mangonadas)
  • Join in the dance parties that take place throughout
  • Watch concerts on the main stage
  • Do some shopping
  • Taste of Fiesta (which is a bit more adult-oriented, in my opinion; tickets required)
  • Play at the kid's park areas
  • People watch galore; even the kids loved it
  • Participate in interactive booths and activities
  • Parents, you can even sample adult beverages and buy beer and wine

Fiesta Fiesta Mom Tips:

  • Wear closed toe comfy shoes
  • Pack drinks and snacks for kids
  • Bring hand wipes and antibacterial
  • Feel free to bring a wagon or stroller
  • Bring ponchos if you want to stay, even in the rain (it's April after all)

My Tips to Fiesta (areas of improvement):

  • NEED hand sanitizer in the food area
  • Add more trash cans throughout
  • Add more food options, they were very limited

“Fiesta Fiesta” is the big bang that starts off Fiesta in San Antonio, and my family just can’t get enough of it! It’s like the whole city throws a massive party, and we’re all invited. The place bursts into color, music fills the air, and the food? Absolutely delicious. It’s like stepping into a whole new world of fun and excitement. The moment we pin on that first Fiesta medal, we know the good times are about to roll. For us, it’s more than just events and parades; it’s about making memories together, feeling connected to everyone around us, and just having a blast. Fiesta brings our city to life, and “Fiesta Fiesta” is where it all kicks off. It's where we meet up with friends, make new ones, and celebrate what makes our community so special. It’s not just a party; it’s our family’s yearly highlight! Big Thumbs Up!
